This is the Jet age and we want everything instant; from instant foods to instant blogs. And the best thing about blogs these days is that they come absolutely free. We take pride on our readymade blogs, tell them to our friends, and post them in forums, discussion boards, bookmarking sites and everywhere possible. You put your best effort to promote it and get pleasantly surprised when Google Page Rank increased more than you hoped or expected. You boost of your high PR Word Press blog. But have you ever considered whether the blog really belongs to you at all in the first place?
Who is the owner of the blog? Is it really you? Are you controlling the blog? I will tell you something that you make you stand and think about it. I have been working with a Word press blog, the URL is http://hostingitrust.wordpress.com/. I worked hard to promote this blog and it had a Google Page Rank of 5, which is quite respectable. It still has a PR 5 as I write this article. Today I try to access my Word press blog and try to add a new article that I have written. What do I see, "The blog has been deactivated". I thought this has to be an error, why would my site be deactivated. I typed in the URL again and the same thing. Later on I find out that they have deactivated my Word press blog because believe it had affiliate links.
I was shocked, affiliate links? Our company owns about 9-10 websites and I had listed them in the blog roll and somebody from Word press must have thought they were affiliate links. Now whatever the reasons have been they are not important. The most important thing here is that the blog was never mine. All along I was under the false impression that I owned this blog. The deactivation of the blog really does not matter to me much as it was a hobby kind of a thing and it were only the back links from a PR 5 blog that made me continue with that blog.
But I know for many of you out there, that blog is quite important to you. At least it is like that with one of my friend. He too has a PR 5 blog and used to be quite proud of it until today when he heard of the incident. I just wanted to write about this incident so that everyone else knows that something like this can actually happen and you may lose your blog.
As for me I have decided not to waste time with Word press blogs any more. I would rather spend time and effort on something that I can really call my own and that nobody can deactivate it if they don't like something about it.
